"Pours dark brown with a thin tan head that quickly subsides. Smells of chocolate, caramel, nuts, some peppery hints, touches of licorice. Tastes slightly bitter with a hint of tartness. Lots of chocolate and coffee hints with a nice underlying bitterness. Hops are subdued in this one as they should be in a porter. Mouthfeel is thick with some peppery splashes. Finish yields some nice spicy elements and touches of dark bitter malt. Well done!"

"The body is absolutely black with no light penetrating. The head is light brown colored and dense. Aroma of honey and pears along with some carmel. The taste has some light almonds along with a little bitter coffee. There is also a bit of anise and dried apricots. Interesting and very smooth, especially for the abv. Nicely done.
